Our Year 2025
The Fraunhofer EMFT team was able to make its contribution to tackling the current challenges facing society in 2025 with a total of 100 projects. 22% of our projects fall within the field of silicon semiconductor technologies. Together with our other areas of expertise - Sensor Solutions, Micropumps, AI System Solutions, Circuit Design, and Test and Analyis - this focus lays the foundation for innovative solutions. It is the interaction between these interdisciplinary areas that enables us to produce forward-looking solutions for people and the environment.
In order to achieve this, we need a strong team. Compared to the previous year, the institute’s workforce increased by seven people, totalling 197 employees by the end of 2025. Of these, research is conducted by 150 people and support functions are performed by 47. The latter include roles in marketing, IT, administration, engineering, quality management, organisational development and services. Additionally, the Fraunhofer EMFT team includes one trainee.
During the year, a further 47 student assistants from a variety of universities and colleges were employed at the institute. As part of this, they contributed to Fraunhofer EMFT's research activities and/or wrote their theses.
Fraunhofer EMFT offers outstanding expertise from all over the world: our team comes from a total of 28 different countries. Together we drive forward research and development of sensor systems and actuators to the benefit of human beings and the environment. Our multicultural background is a key advantage, enabling us to look at scientific issues from a diverse range of perspectives. We make the most of this opportunity to inspire each other in terms of our mindset and our problem-solving strategies.
